On November 8, 2021, the Minister of Health issued Circular 16/2021/TT-BYT stipulating the price of the SARS-CoV-2 testing service.
Accordingly, the price of the SARS-CoV-2 testing service is regulated as follows:
(1) The price of the SARS-CoV-2 testing service in case it is within the payment range of the Health Insurance Fund
Quick test for SARS-CoV-2 Ag:
The service price includes direct costs and salary costs as specified in column 1, Section I, Appendix I issued with this Circular, plus the cost of SARS-CoV-2 testing products as prescribed in Clause 3 Article 2 of this Circular.
The maximum payment level is not more than 109,700 VND/test.
*Testing for SARS-CoV-2 by automatic or semi-automatic immunoassay machine:
The service price includes direct costs and salary costs as specified in column 1, Section II, Appendix I issued with this Circular, plus the cost of SARS-CoV-2 test products as specified in Clause 3. Article 2 of this Circular.
The maximum payment is not over 186,600 VND/test.
*Testing for SARS-CoV-2 by Realtime RT-PCR:
– In case of the single:
The service price includes direct costs and salary costs as specified in column 1, Section III, Appendix I issued with this Circular plus the cost of SARS-CoV-2 testing products as prescribed in Clause 3. Article 2 of this Circular.
The maximum payment is not over 518,400 VND/test.
– In the case of sample merge: The service price includes direct costs and salary costs as specified in column 1, Section IV, Appendix I issued together with this Circular plus the cost of SARS-CoV-2 testing products according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 2 of this Circular, in which the biological product for testing are divided equally according to the number of aggregated samples. The maximum payment level shall not exceed the price for testing the combined samples specified in column 2, Appendix I issued with this Circular.
(2) The price of the SARS-CoV-2 testing service in case it is not covered by the health insurance fund:
– For state-owned medical examination and treatment facilities in provinces and centrally-run cities and medical examination and treatment establishments affiliated to ministries and central agencies located in their respective localities, except for the case specified at Point b of this clause: The price determination shall comply with the provisions of Clause 1, Article 3 of this Circular in which the price includes direct costs and salary costs (excluding laboratory products) as set by the local authority but must not exceed the maximum price bracket for SARS-CoV-2 testing services as prescribed in column 1, Appendix I to this Circular;
– For medical examination and treatment establishments affiliated to the Ministry of Health and special-class hospitals, grade I hospitals belonging to ministries and central agencies, and public medical facilities providing preventive medical services: the prices in Clause 1, Article 3 of this Circular.
Circular 16/2021/TT-BYT takes effect from November 10, 2021, to the end of December 31, 2022.
