On October 30–31, 2025, the 24th ASEAN Federation of Accountants Conference (AFA 24) was formally held at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, hosted by the Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA). The event brought together more than 1,500 domestic and international delegates, serving as the largest professional cooperation forum for the accounting and auditing profession in Southeast Asia.
The conference was attended by Mr. Le Tan Can, Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Doan Anh Tho, Deputy State Auditor General; Mr. Dang Van Chinh, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Long Province; Mr. Luu Duc Tuyen, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Finance; Mr. Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC); Ms. Latana Siharaj, Deputy Head of the Political Office of the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; as well as numerous international representatives from the Brunei Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, World Bank, and other international accounting and auditing professional organizations.
Representing AFA and ASEAN delegates were Prof. Dr. Doan Xuan Tien, President of AFA and Chairman of VAA; Mr. Ardan Adiperdana, Vice President of AFA and Chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI); Mr. Janoearto Alamsyah, Executive Director of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants; together with leaders and former leaders of VAA and AFA members from countries across the region.

The CPA VIETNAM delegation, led by Mr. Nguyen Phu Ha, Chairman of the Members’ Council, together with the Company’s Board of Directors, attended the conference and actively participated in activities held as part of the event.
Under the theme “Green Accounting and Finance – Shaping a Sustainable Future,” the AFA 24 Professional Forum brought together experts, leaders, and policymakers in accounting, auditing, and finance from across ASEAN. Delegates discussed current challenges, green transition trends, ESG reporting, and proposed solutions for the sustainable development of the profession in the digital era.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Doan Xuan Tien emphasized that AFA 24 featured a comprehensive and important agenda, marking Vietnam’s term as AFA Chair for 2024–2025 with a range of effective initiatives that contributed to advancing the accounting and auditing profession in the region.
Highlighting Vietnam’s role, Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can noted that VAA had effectively and smoothly led AFA’s working agenda, contributing to stronger connections among professional organizations across ASEAN. He also emphasized that Vietnam is accelerating the development of digital government, the digital economy, and digital society, while encouraging the application of AI, blockchain, and cloud computing in accounting, auditing, and sustainability reporting, alongside a strong focus on data security, confidentiality, and technology ethics.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), affirmed: “AFA is an important part of the IFAC family, and the professional accounting organizations participating in AFA 24 are pillars of economic growth and guardians of integrity in each country.”
As part of the event, the formal handover of the AFA Chairmanship from Vietnam to Indonesia for the 2026–2027 term was held, marking the conclusion of Vietnam’s successful tenure as AFA Chair.
