On October 10, 2026, Transport Engineering Design Incorporated (TEDI) joined a delegation from the Standing Committee of the 16th National Assembly's Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs for a field survey of the Bao Ha–Lai Chau Expressway Investment and Construction Project, specifically the section from Bao Ha to the Political and Administrative Center of Lai Chau Province. The delegation was led by Nguyễn Minh Sơn, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs. Participants included representatives of central ministries and agencies, leaders of Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces, and relevant organizations.
Representing TEDI, the project's consulting firm, Nguyễn Mạnh Hà, Deputy General Director, together with leaders of TEDI's Structural Engineering Design Consultancy Center, directly coordinated technical discussions and provided professional information to support the delegation's field survey and inspection.
At the IC16 interchange in Bao Ha Commune, Lao Cai Province, the starting point connecting the project to the Noi Bai–Lao Cai Expressway, TEDI representatives presented a summary of the proposed alignment and preliminary design solutions. They also discussed and clarified technical matters raised by the delegation. According to the pre-feasibility study, the Bao Ha–Lai Chau Expressway has a proposed study length of approximately 119 km, including around 49.5 km in Lao Cai Province and 69.5 km in Lai Chau Province. The expressway is being studied as a four-lane route with a design speed of 80–100 km/h and a preliminary total investment of approximately VND 50,990 billion.

The delegation receives a briefing on the proposed alignment and technical solutions for the section passing through the Khau Co Tunnel.
During the field survey, delegation members focused on the project's effectiveness; measures to address landslide and slope instability risks and ensure structural safety under adverse weather conditions; and its consistency with planning orientations and socio-economic development objectives for the 2026–2030 period. Other issues examined included connections with external transport networks, impacts on defense land, resettlement arrangements, and the availability of construction materials.
The field survey aimed to comprehensively assess implementation conditions and identify issues requiring further study and refinement in the project dossier, supporting the consideration and approval of the investment policy in accordance with applicable regulations.
The Bao Ha–Lai Chau Expressway Project (CT.13) is strategically important for strengthening transport connectivity between Lai Chau Province and the national expressway network, expanding development opportunities and promoting regional integration. Once constructed, the expressway is expected to increase transport capacity, shorten travel times, facilitate the effective development of industrial, commercial, service and tourism potential, and contribute to national defense and security in the Northwest region.
Through its participation in alignment studies and the presentation of preliminary design solutions, TEDI continues to demonstrate its technical expertise and consulting experience in transport infrastructure. The company remains committed to working alongside regulatory authorities and local governments in preparing key transport infrastructure projects, contributing to the completion of the national transport network and sustainable socio-economic development.
