Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue meet with Presidents of CAPA 06/09/2012 16:43

Mr. Wedlock briefed the Minister about CAPA and the cooperation between CAPA and VACPA which emphasized that CAPA was a big regional professional accountancy organization (PAO) recognized by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) gathering 31 national PAOs from 23 countries. VACPA was the 30th member which had joined CAPA since 2010. The fact that CAPA selected VACPA to host a series of events in Vietnam from 16 to 18 August 2012 proved the confidence of CAPA in VACPA. The CAPA President also wished that the Minister continued to support VACPA for its further advancement.

The Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue thanked the CAPA President and CAPA for choosing Vietnam and VACPA to host the important events of CAPA. This was the honor of VACPA and at the same time, the appreciation and recognition of CAPA of the contribution of Vietnam and VACPA to the development of the accountancy profession in the region. The Minister had already received the conference book and was impressed by the list of speakers and presentations. He excused his absence from the CAPA-VACPA Conference on 16 August for his busy schedule but he sent Vice Minister of Finance Nguyen Huu Chi to attend the conference in his stead.

The Minister emphasized that the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Finance fully supported the development of the accountancy profession in line with international practices. VACPA was a new PAO which was established in 2005 but had made significant achievements so the Government was confident to assign VACPA more functions.

The Minister hoped that CAPA would be the bridge to connect the profession in Vietnam with the regional and international profession. With such important role, CAPA will help VACPA and the accountancy profession of Vietnam advance further, especially in the post crisis where accounting and auditing was vital and its role needed to be reconsidered and fully identified so as to add value to the society and avoid risks.

The Minister wished the relationship between VACPA and CAPA consolidated and more strengthened. CAPA and VACPA jointly thanked the Minister.
